The third cemetery clearance working party took place between 9am and 12 noon on Saturday 8 March 2008 in readiness for our Passion Sunday and Easter processions. Many thanks to all who helped!
2nd CEMETERY WORKING PARTY - SATURDAY 25 AUGUST 2007 18 people came to clear out bramble and rubbish along the cemetery boundary fence. We collected ten plastic sacks of assorted plant pots, flower wrappings etc that had been thrown over the fence and had a huge bonfire of the tangled bramble we pulled out. The effect of all this effort is wonderful and the cemetery is now looking really smart. We must arrange further sessions in the future to make sure it stays that way. Visitors to the cemetery will see that the grass has been mown by a contractor since the first Working Party clearance in June and there is now a clear view below the bordering conifers and across the Priory field to the north. So many, many thanks to our hardworking (and rather scratched) gang. Click on the thumbnails below for pictures: |

1st Cemetery Working Party - Saturday 9 June 2007 The first Working Party have almost completed cutting all the grass, even the very thick, tangled stuff. Several people have contributed to the cutting and clearing during these two weeks and can be pleased with their achievement, as the whole area looks much better. Cutting the grass reveals how uneven much of the cemetery is and we can do more work through the Summer and Autumn to level out pathways and other areas. We will also arrange another Saturday Working Party to clear rubbish that has collected outside the boundary fence and looks unsightly. If you are willing to join the little band trying to improve the appearance of our cemetery, in its beautiful setting below the South Downs, please contact Terry Lane (01903) 745691. |
