Our winning scarecrow by Frances Arter!

 
In our battle to keep the birds off our ripening grapes, we invited parishioners and friends to make scarecrows. From 3pm on Sunday 26 September an extraordinarily vibrant collection of creative figures began arriving in the vineyard. The final total was 26 scarecrows and about 75 friends aged from 5 to 80-something!All were invited to place a sticker on the scarecrow they found the most creative and/or effective. Congratulations to Frances Arter whose wonderfully cranky don, in mortar board and academic gown gained the most stickers. We spent a good hour together and enjoyed company, cakes, chocolates and drinks.
